facebook .... 1. Hello,
First, thanks a lot for your work! :)
I have this message with windows vista sp1 - Avast up to date - Firefox 3.0 and Winamp 5.54 when i download it :
09/07/2008 19:18:07SYSTEM1572Sign of "Win32:Trojan-gen {Other}" has been found in "http://download.nullsoft.com/winamp/client/winamp554_full_emusic-7plus_en-us.exe $SMPROGRAMS$1$PLUGINSDIRbundle3.exe" file.
Any idea? Thanks in advance.
4. I've been a longtime fan of Winamp ... but am extremely disappointed in this release's "AOL Radio" section (powered by CBS Radio). When I go to view the stations, I no longer get all of the categories in one window and must scroll up and down to find the category I'm looking for. Then ... I can no longer view the channel/station description. This is very useful when trying out new stations, finding something I'm in the mood for, etc. For example, if I might be interested in "Adult Rock", the only thing I have to go off of is the following: "Adult Rock - Rock that's ... " and I can't even view more details without loading the station. Seems like a waste of time. I've always liked Winamp because it's always so easy to use ... but the latest 'update' to CBS Radio is a big step backwards. Please change it back!
5. NebraskaGuy,
Thanks for the comment & longtime support! Try maximizing your player while browsing thru radio stations... that way you can see the full title and description. Sometimes station descriptions get truncated if you don%u2019t have your player open wide enough.
6. This helps ... but sure uses up real estate (which seems to go against one of Winamp's great features of the past - quick, simple, effective). I'm sort of a minimalist and would like to see a return to getting the job done without requiring so many additional steps. Perhaps offering stations the old way, and just adding the 'physical' station links to the category? (Please?) :)
10. I have been using winamp since the Llama was in diapers..... I LOVE your program, I use it to DJ for friends' weddings. I LOVE the "Jump To File" window feature. I can categorize and search MUCH better that way. I was wondering if you could give me an itemized list of the features I can disable so it will run at "peak" performance. Right now my collection of music is quite large and it takes up to 30 seconds for it to search for a song.
Thanks so much!
Mark
12. Mark - The Winamp forum is a wealth of information. You may want to check out a great post by DJ Egg. Awhile back, he pulled together a full list of 5.51 components (which are modular features which can be deselected prior to installation)
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=199851#list
There's also a great site that he pointed me to... "Like the Wind". It offers tips & tweaks to speed up Winamp, or fix any settings that may be slowing you down:

13. I am having problems with AOL radio stations showing up in the media library section.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times the v5.54 but no luck
nothing happens when I click on the highlighted radio station name... :(
Im considering to downgrade to the previous version.
c'est dommage ...
Any clue
14. Winamp is still my favourite music player, but the latest versions are turning more like Windows Media Player (which I hate a lot, for it's greede requierements). So please, don't let Wiamp become Windows Media Player, make Winamp light and powerfull again, like good old times ;)
15. Manin - Can you confirm that when you click on AOL Radio that you see the "AOL Radio powered by CBS Radio" logo?
Here are a couple of quick steps you can take that may solve the issue:
1) AOL Radio is a sub-directory under the "Online Services" root. Try clicking on "Online Services" & then deselecting and then re-selecting the check mark next to AOL Radio. That may synch your subscription.
2) Try clearing your Internet Explorer cache
16. Thanks for taking the time to answer me.
Yes, in the 'Mediatheque' tab I see : AOL ► radio powered by ☺CBSRadio
then the bar : View Stations by : GENRE | Location (hyperlink)
Under I have the vertical list of the radios starting by : AOL Recommends and 32 rows way down finishing by World/International.
Those rows are mouse sensitive and react properly in turning greyed on mouse over.
Also when I click on (say *Rock*) the page with the Rock radios list is sent properly. Up to here Winamp works as expected.
So I have now the complete list of the radios ie. :
100.7 WZLX - Boston's Only Classic Rock
101 KUFO - blablabla and so on...
The radio name is highlighted in a beautiful light blue color.
The rows are also responding to the mouse over, the focus is materialized by a grey rectangular background of about 10 cm long.
But all the hyperlink on that window,
. Genre
. Location
. All Radios names
does NOT react to the mouse click, (left or right) or to any keyboard action (enter, ctrlM, tab, shift ctrl alt click...
no way to select a particular radio.... whatever the time I wait awaiting for some kind of answer... no luck.
Same problem occurs in WinAmp Music :
. the artist list in shown
. when I click on a singer, the message Loading is displayed breafly then NOTHING....
On AOL Videos: I succeeded to have some videos but it is very ennoying to wait for about ten minutes to see the message *loading* desappears and finaly see the vid (whatever the artist I choice, on my 18 kbits/s internet connexion)...
. ShoutCast TV Ok
. Shoutcast Radio Ok :)
Of course I took care of the IE cache, first thing I did
also I closed all applications in order to leave all my DDR memory for Winamp (2Gb).
I already tried to active and deselect the Online Service in order to try to synchronise the contents with the display... no results...
I use Winamp from the very beginning,
Oh by the way I remarked on Music List some artists name misdisplayed their name has unreadable unicode (UTF8) characters.... may be is a way to dig...

17. Manin,
To be honest, I'm not sure what's causing your issue. I pulled in one of our resident experts (DJ Egg) and he thought that you may potentially have 'enqueue' set as the default action.
If that's the case, what may be happening is that when you click on the station, the url is getting added to the end of the playlist, rather than immediately playing.
Again, not sure if that's the cause... but hope that helps.
18. Love the new look of Winamp! Now playing is great to use to look up an artist that is new to me when playing on a SHOUTcast station. I would like to see the new Dashboard have the layout of Now Playing or similar user friendly layout. Keep up the great work team!
One part genius. Three parts llama. And a sprinkling of corporate AOL. That's what Winamp is all about.
