Welcome once again to another installment of Winamp Answers. In this edition we're going to focus on new Winamp Pro users. From the feedback we've been getting there are some users having trouble getting started with Pro. The below trouble shooting tips are courtesy of DJ Egg (from our
Winamp Tech Support Forum) and help to address some common issues.
Tip 1:After you've downloaded the latest version of
Winamp Pro, be sure to enter in your registration key correctly
Go to: Winamp -> Options -> Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> Winamp Pro -> Enter Registration Info
From your confirmation e-mail enter (or copy & paste) the exact customer name used to register into the top field, and the exact 20 digit registration key into the bottom field (be sure to include the hyphen/dash) . If you copy & pasted the information, make sure there are no trailing spaces.

Tip 2:If you are still not able to access Winamp Pro, what version of Windows OS are you running (eg. WinXP sp3 32-bit, or Vista 64-bit, etc.)? To identify your operating systems go to: Start -> Right Click My Computer -> Properties -> General (Tab)
If it's Win 2000/XP then make sure you are logged into Windows with an admin user profile and not a limited user profile.
If it's Vista or Windows 7 RC, try the following:
- Close Winamp
- Right-click the Winamp desktop icon and select: Properties
- Go the "Compatibility" tab
- Checkmark "Run this program as an administrator"
- Checkmark "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP sp2"
- Click OK
- Reopen Winamp, and try entering the reg key combination again.
- If it now works, you should be able to undo the compatibility settings for normal usage & operation of Winamp.
