Winamp for Android 1.0 is now available!
With Winamp & Winamp for AndroidTM you can wirelessly sync your music over Wi-Fi, import your iTunes library, and stream thousands of Internet radio stations with SHOUTcast.
The latest release of Winamp for Android features a completely redesigned Home screen, Now Playing screen, and lock-screen player. You can also download free music, browse songs by genre, swipe album art to change tracks, and use Android's "listen to" voice action to playback music in Winamp. We also added additional language support for Dutch, Italian, Spanish & Turkish.
Download and Stream Free Music
Thanks to our friends at Spinner, from the Winamp for Android Home screen, you now have access to Free Music. You can stream songs individually and if you like them, download them directly to your Android device.
Now Playing Redesign
The new Now Playing screen offers a clean and streamlined interface. Tap on the screen to reveal additional options including the info button, extras button, shuffle & repeat. In addition to biographies, discographies and photos, the info button now also offers a news link to articles about your favorite artists.
Similar to the desktop version of the Winamp Media Player, there's a new notifier that pop-ups during track changes or when you hit play/pause. The notifier gives you additional track information for the song you're listening to.
Now you can swipe left or right on the album art to change tracks.
Home Screen Redesign
In addition to a more polished UI, we've added two buttons to the Home screen: "Free Music" & "Search".
Lock-Screen Player
We took this opportunity to redesign the lock-screen player to have the same look and feel as the updated Now Playing screen.
Integration with Android's "Listen To" Voice Action
Use your Android's Voice Action to listen to artists and songs in Winamp. Outside of Winamp say "listen to...". Inside of Winamp, simply say the artist, album or song name. Make sure you enable Winamp as a searchable item in your Andriod settings.
SHOUTcast Featured Stations
The SHOUTcast Radio Directory is available on Android 2.2 and above (excluding certain non-compatible devices). In this release, we added a Featured Stations list, as well as updated the Now Playing page.
We have seen issues streaming SHOUTcast on certain devices (e.g. Motorola Droid X). Stay tuned to the Winamp blog because in an upcoming release, we are building native SHOUTcast streaming in the Winamp for Android app enabling us to offer an enhanced playback experience on all devices.
*Note: If you've experienced issues with SHOUTcast streaming over your cellular network, try streaming over Wi-Fi.
Additional Language Support
With the latest release, Winamp for Android now supports 12 languages including: English, Dutch, German, French, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian), Romanian, Russian, Spanish & Turkish. We plan on adding support for additional languages in future releases.

2. Like the new interface!
Shame there still isn't an option to manually specify the folders (ie SD card/mymusic/) out of which Winamp can update its library. If I select "Play all songs", I still get rudely interrupted by a Finnish lady telling me I should turn right ;-)

4. was so confused/bummed that I couldnt find the shoutcast button then read this...no support for Droid X, bummer. hope that update rolls out soon. been waiting a long time for good Android shoutcast support.

6. Come oooon! Let's get shoucast on winamp 1.0 for android on droid X for cryps sake, The droid X is verizons best first gen 4.7in screen and it has the same engine as a droid 2 global. What the hell? I dont think you people really know how to program for the damn droid x pointless to have winamp and no shoutcast, I say screw winamp and I will just go to shoutcast directly I got flash and can listen to shoutcast without stinking winamp pffffthap.

8. Winamp 1.0 for android wont even recognize .PLS,,,,HELLO PEOPLE! DAHHHH! Xiia sure does. What's your disfunction winamp programmers? If your going to bring an app to the market please try to get at least % 98.9 of it right the first time. God I'm throwing my hands up in the air and I'm banging my freaking head against the god damn wall. Who the hell needs spinner, phuck spinner!,,,,,Give me my damn Shoutcast.com on the winamp application for android... As you can tell I'm passionate about this.... 8P~~~~

11. what about BT text? When I pair my phone with my car stereo it won't display the name of the song. Can you fix that? The moto player does it fine.

12. is it at all possible to sync music onto your phone using usb rather than wi-fi - because it seems to be taking days to sync and keeps on stopping

13. SHOUTcast was working fine with 0.9.2, but was changed to "History" after update. This blog states you must be running 2.2, and not on a Droid X. I have a ROOTed Saphire 1.1.1 running on Moto Droid 1 v2.2(Froyo). Why is this missing? I have reverted to 0.9.2 to get SHOUTcast back. Please email me when this has been resolved.

15. When I transfer songs via wifi it stays at "connecting" even though there is no message on my phone to allow or something of that sort. Is there something im missing?

16. Using my Motorola Droid (2.2), there is no shoutcast button as of the update. There is a History button in its place. Please fix this, shoutcast is the main reason I have Winamp on my phone.

17. Same issue here on Droid 2.2 (Bugless Beast). Lost Shoutcast in favor of "History." Shoutcast was working fine on the beta version. I had to revert-- Shoutcast support (soma.fm) is a dealbreaker for me.

20. i can't believe no one else is posting this... where is native ALBUM ARTIST support??? how are compilations supposed to be supported without it? the app is great but missing something so fundamental is a huge FAIL! please get the basics down FIRST before all the little extra bits you're doing now...
