We are excited to introduce the very first Winamp desktop application for the Mac OS platform... Winamp for Mac Sync Beta. While that fact is significant in and of itself, this is the first step in a long journey and an announcement of the Winamp team's new long-term commitment to the Mac OS platform as another place to consume and manage your Winamp music library.

Our number one goal for this first (beta) release is to provide a robust sync solution for Mac desktop and Android phone users leveraging our very popular and industry best Winamp for Android music manager. As a bonus, there are a good number of library playback and management features... with many more coming very soon.

Winamp is designed to get you up and running quickly with one-click buttons to import your library from iTunes or from the Mac OS default music folder. If you select the "Keep Updated" option, Winamp will check for changes and add new tracks and playlists every time you restart the application. In the Preferences menu you can add specific folders to "watch" for music added to your Mac desktop, called "Watch Folders". Currently, Watch Folders are only supported on HFS formatted drives. Winamp also supports moving tracks and playlist from your phone to your Mac desktop and you can set the default transfer folder for that as well. All of these features make it really easy and powerful to keep your Winamp library in sync and up to date.

Winamp for Mac Sync provides a straightforward solution for syncing and transferring your music library to your phone. Connect your phone and your Mac desktop to the same WiFi network and you will see your device pop up under the "Devices" node in the nav (make sure you have enabled Wireless Sync in Winamp for Android). Click on the Device name and confirm the simple pairing request on your phone. You only need to do this once and then Winamp will always remember your device. You can set it up to sync your entire library or specific playlists.
There is a feedback link in the Help menu, please use it to send us you ideas and enhancement requests, or send us mail directly to feedback@lists.winamp.com
1. I'm really happy that you've started to develop Winamp for Mac! I've been searching for an equivalent software for years! I hope you will continue with the development, especially by adding some cool old features like tag editor and plugins handling. Winamp's DSP plugins were really great, i miss them on my Mac!
Bravo and long live to Winamp!

7. Finally, a REAL alternative to iTunes for the Mac!! I've tried all the others and they suck. Don't really like being tied to iTunes either, so this is the best news I've heard in years.
A few wishlist items(Which I'm sure you already have planned)
1. A skinnable mini-player. One of the biggest drawbacks to iTunes is that the mini player is the same friggin' color as the rest of the crap on my screen. For the life of me, I can't figure out why the 'Think Different' people can't wrap their heads around this. If I can't see the player, then I have to search all over the screen for it...
2. VIsualizations, or whatever you call the cool patterns I can play while I listen to my music. God, I love those.
3. Ability to sync with my iPod(If this is possible), so I can dump iTunes for good.
4. A skinnable regular-sized player, rather than the full screen or nothing version that's currently on here.
Like I said, you probably already have these planned, but I figured I'd ask just in case other people +1'd them and they got pushed to the top of the list... :-) While I wait, I'm still only going to use Winamp!!
Thanks!
8. This is huge news! Congrats!
Don't forget why we love winamp on Windows! You can search a file by any info related to it. (path, genre, filename). Make this possible on OS X and you'll be a distant winner.
Also, very important, The QUEUE function! I desperately need it!!
Thank You!
9. Yeah! This whips even my Mac's ass! Finally some serious alternative to suckin' iTunes! However, the current Beta still has some major bugs (e.g. doubleclicking a track in the library doesnt move the queue there) - however, this is hreat news! Thanks for making this step!
10. Hi there. Good deal y'all finally are coming out with Winamp for the Mac. Some things I'd really love to see done. 1. ENQ. You start a song then you can set up another song to follow right after it or else overlap so that there are no gaps. Or even have the tracks cross fade in to one another when the threshhold reaches a user determined point. Most importantly, I'd really love to see access for blind Mac users which means that all buttons and controls must be labeled for Voice Over using the API set for Voice Over that Apple has provided. Do that, and I'd get pro for sure.
13. There's a playlist generator? I don't see it anywhere. No keyboard controls to delete files? No way to update metadata. No radio feature.
Currently, it'll play and sync your files. A good companion to iTunes, but a long way from a replacement. I'll be interested to see how it progress.
14. Let me say some things. Still use Winamp on Windows, because it's the most customizable player and that's very important for me. I can use the skin and plugins I want.
It seemly integrates with Windows and I can manage playlists and tracks without too much effort unlike iTunes.
It's a joy loading playlists with Winamp. Also on Windows, I like how the Winamp 2.x old skins integrates well and collapse feature it's the best thing.
Since i recently bought a Mac, I really miss a good music player.
Maybe now, with Winamp rising on Mac my hopes are rising :D
Please keep up perfecting Winamp for Mac and adding new features. We need a true competitor for iTunes. And don't ever drop Winamp 2.x support skins please.
17. I'd like to have Winamp for Mac more like Winamp is in Windows. Not copy&paste the iTunes design without funkctions. I suggest that should be able e.g. to play file(s)/directories just drag&drop to Winamp window, next it should be able to minimaze the player window like iTunes or Win-version does. Next I miss skins and plugins.
There is nothing on Mac like Windows version of Winamp, and I think that many switchers would like to use something like that besides iTunes, just to play ad-hoc music, use their old winamp playlists etc.
Thanks
18. This program is incredibly buggy and is not ready for a beta release. Integration with the iTunes library is failing famously and sync stops after 40-50 songs, forcing me to disable/enable the function on android before the client will pick up the phone again. I WANT TO BELIEVE. Longtime Winamp fan and I'm very excited to have the chance to use it again after 3 years of Mac ownership... please clean this product up. Much love for you guys.
One part genius. Three parts llama. And a sprinkling of corporate AOL. That's what Winamp is all about.
